BUTLER HOUSE

(We currently have no information about the history of this house.)
NOTE: This is another house which incorporates stone from Red Rock Canyon into a brick building. The steps appear to be Lyons sandstone (flagstone) from Lyons, Colorado. At the time, this stone was popular for steps. And, as you can see, several other buildings shown here also have Lyons flagstone steps.

MOLLY BROWN HOUSE

NOTE: The Molly Brown House is built of Castle Rock rhyolite (the same stone as Colorado Springs’ First Congregational Church) with sandstone from Red Rock Canyon used for architectural accents.

NOTE: This is another house which incorporates stone from Red Rock Canyon along with Lyons, Colorado flagstone steps into a brick building.
So far, this collection of pictures represents fewer than half or Denver’s buildings built with Red Rock Canyon stone. In the future, we expect to be expanding these pages with photos of more buildings.
